ABC’s John Quiñones & Goya President to Speak at VA Hispanic Gala, April 14th

RICHMOND, VA: John Quiñones, six-time Emmy Award®-winning journalist will be keynote speaker at the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Hispanic Gala, Thursday, April 14th, at the Science Museum of Virginia at 6:00PM. Sponsorships are available, and tickets are $175 per person, including dinner by Mosaic and fine Latin American wines, on sale at The Hispanic Gala attracted some of the most influential leaders in business and politics worldwide, including Latin American ambassadors, governors, senators, delegates, and elected officials.

Dominion Resources is title sponsor for this fundraising event. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Dominion Resources in our focus on diversity”, says Virginia Board, Managing Director – Community Affairs & President of the Dominion Foundation. The evening will feature an awards ceremony with scholarships given to top Hispanic students, and awards recognizing successful Hispanic business leaders. Robert Unanue, President of Goya Foods, will be accepting a Bridge Builder Award, as well as Mr. Quiñones, for their contributions in the Hispanic community and in fueling the economy.

This fundraising event will also support the VAHCC Foundation [501(c)(3)], which provides bilingual education and resources to the Hispanic community, with programs such as our Careers Pipeline and Workforce Development, legal clinics, business certification and workshops, and mentoring to Hispanic students on the path to higher education. According to the 2010 US Census, the Hispanic population of Virginia has nearly doubled in the past 10 years (91.7% since 2000), and nearly 35% of this population is under 18, making Virginia’s Latinos a primary population to replace retiring baby-boomers. “Developing your relationship with this community will be a critical connection in the future of your business”, says Michel Zajur, CEO/President of the VAHCC.
