Free Educational Workshop, Sat. Mar. 10th at the Science Museum of Virginia

The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Passport to Education initiative has partnered with the Science Museum of Virginia for a Family Cultural Saturday on March 10th, 11:30a.m-5:00 p.m. celebrating diversity through food in conjunction with The exhibit ‘RACE’:  Are we so different?  The educational goal of the Race project is to help individuals of all ages better understand the origins and manifestations of Race and racism in everyday life by investigating Race and human variation through the framework of science.  This cultural event will provide an excellent opportunity to bring educational resources to the Hispanic community, and also celebrates cultural heritage through food.

Schedule

12:00pm-1:00pm State Council for Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) on “Kindergarten to College” in the Discovery Room.

1:00pm-2:00pm Great Aspirations Scholarship program (GRASP) in the Discovery Room.

2:00pm-2:45pm Elizabeth Williamson, Educational Specialist for the U.S. Department of Education.

3:00pm-4:00pm Demonstrations by two Colombian scientists from Dupont, who will demonstrate materials that Dupont makes on the Live Science Stage.
