The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Comcast
Invite the Community to the Feria de la Oportunidad
RICHMOND – June 27, 2012 – The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Comcast will host, for the 7th consecutive year, the Feria de la Oportunidad on Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its new venue, The Richmond International Raceway (RIR) at 600 E. Laburnum Avenue. There is no cost to attend the event, which is targeted to Richmond’s Latino communities but open to all.
The Feria de la Oportunidad brings together community service providers, Embassies/Consulates from Latin American countries, governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations and corporations that impact the Latino community, and invites attendees to learn about various services and resources available to them. Companies and organizations will be providing workshops and seminars throughout the day on various topics in Spanish such as health, business, education, family services, emergency awareness and wellness.
“The annual ’Feria‘ is a great community exposition day that provides resources, jobs and business opportunities for this growing segment of Virginia’s citizenry,” says Michel Zajur, VAHCC President. “We are grateful to Comcast for their generous support of this program and our diverse communities over the past years.”
“We are pleased to partner with the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to support the needs of the Latino community and help connect local individuals and families with opportunities to help them succeed,” said Ken Dye, director of Government & Community Affairs for Comcast.
The Feria de la Oportunidad is an event to connect, support and strengthen Latino American families in our community. As a “family day”, there will be activities for children, food, arts and crafts and music.
